What God Will Do in 2025

Wouldn’t it be great if we could know the future? Just think of how we could reframe our thinking and actions if we knew what was going to happen tomorrow or next month or next year.

I have worked in the financial world most of my life and this multi-billion-dollar industry would love to know exactly what’s coming next. Just think, if you really knew what the markets were going to do during the next 12 months you could reposition your retirement funds such that they would be where it counts.

But there are just too many variables. Risk is always a consideration. And so a big part of growing your money is considering the risks. Not going “all in” on any one sector or stock.

So, what if we knew what God was going to do in 2025? That would be helpful, right? Given that we’re talking about things far more important than money, we could reposition our lives to align with what God is going to do. We wouldn’t need to hedge our commitment. We could go “all in” with confidence.

So, here are three things God will do in 2025:

First, since Jesus came to save the lost, Jesus will save the lost in 2025. Jesus’ coming was not in vain. He came with the express purpose of rescuing souls from a life and eternity separated from God. He did not die in vain. He will save thousands and thousands in 2025.

God is active and working. The Holy Spirit is bringing the good news of the gospel to those that need help, and he’s opening their eyes to the beauty of Jesus. Here’s Ezekiel 34:12-13:

“As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land.”

A second thing God will be doing in 2025; He will be actively working in the lives of his children to deepen their faith. He will be moving them more closely to be like Jesus. This work is called sanctification.

There are a whole group of tools that God uses to do this, like preaching, the godward fellowship of other believers, prayer, the experiences God ordains for us, and Scripture. God's Word plays a crucial role in the sanctification process. Jesus prayed, "Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth" (John 17:17).

As believers immerse themselves in Scripture, the Holy Spirit uses it to renew our minds and transform our hearts.

The last thing I’ll mention here is answered prayer. God will answer prayer in 2025.

God always hears his children. God has ordained that he works through the prayers of his people. Just like God has ordained that His saving work is accomplished through people spreading the gospel, He has also ordained that his working will be accomplished through prayer.

So, why is all of this important to us at the beginning of a new year? It's so we can do what I mentioned earlier. We can go “all in” and have no hesitation about what God is doing and how we can align with God’s will for us.

Let’s be bold in sharing the gospel and let’s cooperate with the Holy Spirit and confess our sin and get to know Jesus so we can be more like him. Let’s be bold in praying for those we care about.

Jesus, you came to save the lost. I’m sorry for being short-sighted and often focused on myself and the things that this world can give me. Thank you for working your will in us even though we’re stubborn. Please cause me to love what you love.

I’ll leave you with a closing prayer from Heb 13:20-21:

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever.
