For God So Loved the World - John 3:16-21

Jesus, you are the only way to eternal life, and your love is beyond compare. If your death on the cross – the supreme sacrifice – is the most excellent demonstration of love, my sin must be much greater than I realize. I confess that there are times when I look into the darkness for answers and not into the light. I DON’T WANT THAT. Thank you for being merciful to me in my weakness. Please, please, open my soul and satisfy me.

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. - 1 Timothy 2:5–6, ESV

God, who loved the world, gave his only begotten Son as a manifest token of his love. If the evidence of his love is this, that he bestowed a creature on creatures, gave a worldly being on the world’s behalf, granted one raised up from nothing for the redemption of objects equally raised up from nothing, such a cheap and petty sacrifice is a poor assurance of his favor toward us. Gifts of price are the evidence of affection: the greatness of the surrender is evidence of the greatness of the love. God, who loved the world, gave no adopted son but his own, his only begotten [Son]. Here is personal interest, true sonship, sincerity; not creation, or adoption, or pretense. Here is the proof of his love and affection that he gave his own, his only begotten Son. – Hilary of Poitiers

Anyone, anyone, the best and the worst, all the same really - anyone who believes.
