My Kingdom Is Not of This World - John 18:33-40

READ JOHN 18:33-40

Jesus, you are the only King. There is no king like you. Ultimately all other kings can only serve your purposes. Too often I serve other kings that are not kings at all. Too often the fear of man rules my actions. I’m sorry. Thank you for your patience and love for me, a rebel. Please, Jesus, I don’t want to be a rebel. I want to be your servant willfully. Convict me where I need convicting. Open my eyes to my rebellion. Amen

Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness; you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions - Psalm 45:6–7

Cyril of Alexandria: Having nothing at all of which to accuse him, and none of those crimes to allege against him that normally bring with them just punishment—and Pilate persisting in inquiring why they had brought him—they assert that Jesus had sinned against Caesar in assuming the dominion that Caesar had acquired over the Jews and in changing the glory of his kingdom to suit his personal aspirations. – Cyril of Alexandria

I’m guessing Pilot had no idea what was actually happening in this moment and who he was washing his hand of. I wonder how often I’m oblivious to what’s at stake in my actions.
