Peter Denies Jesus - John 18:15-18

READ JOHN 18:15-18

Jesus, in the cold you moved toward the cross while Peter warmed himself. You came to die for cowards like me. Like Peter, my bold words of commitment often come when there is no real danger. And when there is danger the commitment fades. I’m sorry. Thank you for being faithful when I am not. Thank you for your strong love when mine is weak. Thank you for saving me when I don’t respond as I should. Even though I am often like Peter, I want to be like John and follow without fear. Please change my heart. Please impact me with the magnitude of your love such that I feel it and know it as I should. Amen

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; - Psalm 1:1

The fire of love was smothered in Peter’s breast, and he was warming himself before the coals of the persecutors, that is, he was warming himself with the love of this present life, which only increased his weakness. – Gregory the Great

Jesus came to save the weak and cowardly. We are all weak and cowardly.
