I Am the Light of the World - John 8:12-30

READ JOHN 8:12-30

Jesus, you are the light of the world, and you eradicate the darkness. You are the light that breaks through and rescues those sinking in a dark and bottomless ocean. As ridiculous as this sounds, while I want this light, I often don’t act like it. I tend to turn away and hide my thoughts and actions in the shadows. I’m not very faithful – I’m sorry. Thank you for caring for me when I am weak. I want to live in your light and always feel the warmth. Please turn my face toward you. Amen

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? - Psalm 27:1

Since they were continually bringing up Galilee and “the prophet” (as if that was all he claimed to be), he wanted to show that he was not one of the prophets but the Master of the world. “I am the Light of the world,” not only of Galilee, or of Palestine, or of Judea. – Chrysostom

If you are in darkness, the light of a fire shows you the fire. In our darkness, Jesus shows us God.
