The Triumphal Entry - John 12:12-19

READ JOHN 12:12-19

Jesus, you are a king like no other. As the creator of the universe, you subjected yourself, in humiliation, to the hate of sinners. Misunderstood by those who believed, and hated by those who didn’t, you moved toward the cross – for us. I’m sure I don’t grasp the magnitude of your love for me – I’m sorry. Thank you for loving me and facing God’s wrath for me. Please, Jesus, I want to see this better. Please open my eyes. Amen.

Save us, we pray, O Lord! O Lord, we pray, give us success! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We bless you from the house of the Lord. - Psalm 118:25–26

The Evangelist does not hesitate to mention the ignorance of the disciples, nor their subsequent understanding, since he did not care about the respect of people but pleads for the glory of the Spirit and shows what kind of men the disciples were before the resurrection and what sort of men they had become after the resurrection. – Cyril of Alexander

All the miracles, all the anticipation, and now is the time – here he is! How quickly the crowds will turn when Jesus doesn’t meet their expectations.
